USB-C chaos is almost over — cable labeling still is not
The port won. Speeds, wattage, and branding on the cable are the new trap.

The Story
One port does not mean one cable. Charge-only, USB 2 data, high-watt PD, and display-capable cables still look identical in a drawer. The port war ended; the labeling war did not.
Why It Matters
Wrong cable means slow sync, failed video out, or a laptop that barely tops up while you blame the charger brick. Specs live on packaging you already recycled. Hotels and offices make this worse — every anonymous black cable is a gamble.
Desk Take
Label cables the day you buy them. GeekTown keeps a cheap label maker next to the router for a reason. If a cable matters for display or 100W charge, mark both ends.
