The Story

Apple Silicon changed thermal behavior, which spawned a new myth cycle about lap use, cases, and "always plugged in." Fans are quieter. Heat still has somewhere to go — usually the chassis and keyboard deck.

Why It Matters

Sustained exports and compiles still warm the machine. Soft sleeves that trap air make throttling more likely, not less. Battery mythology from the Intel years does not map cleanly to modern charge management.

Desk Take

Hard surface for heavy jobs. Skip furry sleeves while rendering. Charge whenever — modern battery management is not 2012. If the machine is hot and loud, close the browser tab farm before you buy a cooling pad.
